Leading Lights

Services

Leading Lights Early Intervention comprises of health and education staff. Most of our therapy is delivered through fun and playful experiences. Play is a very effective way to provide children with positive therapy experiences that work to assist new neural pathways to develop in the brain. This can assist multiple areas of brain functioning including supporting trauma recovery, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, sensory processing speed, anxiety and depression. We combine mainstream therapy with real experience and other alternative, professional intervention, and believe in meeting each child for who they are and in their space- they are quite simply the leading lights.

We assist with

What We Offer

We focus on identifying the root causes of developmental delays, behaviours, and disabilities, including early childhood trauma, gut health, epigenetics, and environmental factors. This whole-of-child approach enables therapies that support real healing, not just coping strategies, and helps children reach their full potential.

Functional Integrated Medicinal Nutrition

Overview :

Functional Nutrition mirrors the functional medicine approach where “food is medicine”. Functional Nutrition takes a holistic approach to how children fuel their bodies, taking into consideration lifestyle factors that impact health and wellbeing including sleep, movement, hydration, social connection, and stress.
The integrated medicine approach means we can look deeper than simply gut health and explore root causes for behaviours and symptoms. This may include investigating genetics, environmental factors, toxins and more.

Speech Therapy

Overview :

We offer Speech Therapy sessions to support your child’s language and communication needs. These sessions are specifically targeted at goals that we set with your family early on in your child’s journey with us. Your therapist will also assist your child’s school or childcare setting to implement strategies that will assist your child in reaching their full potential in this area.

Counselling

Overview :

Counselling aims to support complex challenges of family, relationships, career and personal life. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, mental health issues, burnout, low self-esteem, significant life transitions or persistent difficulties, seeing a counsellor can help. A holistic and calm approach, collaborative and person centred on creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore your experiences and develop practical strategies for overcoming obstacles.

Infrared Laser Therapy

Overview :

Neural inflammation is linked to many paediatric health conditions. Light therapy is well known to reduce systemic inflammation in the body and paving the way for better body function and brain development. This assists children (and adults) in areas of learning, behaviours and emotional responses, pain and discomfort. Infrared light derives from the sunlight and is a wonderful and natural way of supporting your child’s growth and development. Red and infrared light is part of our natural-light spectrum that has wonderful benefits! As we are becoming more disconnected from our environment, we are “rediscovering the benefits of nature.”

Positive Behaviour Therapy

Overview :

Positive Behaviour Support is a person-centered approach to helping people with challenging behaviours live a better quality of life.
The goal is to improve the person’s life by focusing on their strengths and encouraging positive actions. Positive Behaviour
Support helps by understanding why your child behaves in a challenging way and finding ways to meet their needs.
We consider strategies such as changing the environment, setting up routines or teaching new skills.

Occupational Therapy

Overview :

Occupational therapy (OT) is a dynamic field that focuses on helping individuals develop, recover, or maintain the skills needed for daily life activities. For children, this means improving abilities that are essential for school, play, socializing, and self-care. Pediatric occupational therapists work with kids to enhance fine motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, and cognitive function, supporting their overall development.

In the pediatric sphere, OT is especially beneficial for children with conditions like autism, ADHD, developmental delays, or physical disabilities. Therapists use engaging, child-friendly strategies to address challenges, fostering independence and boosting self-confidence. Whether it’s teaching a child how to tie their shoes, managing sensory sensitivities, or improving social skills, OT equips children with the tools they need to thrive. Ultimately, occupational therapy helps children lead more fulfilling, functional, and enjoyable lives by empowering them to navigate their world with greater ease and confidence.

Integrative Developmental Specialist (Formerly Key Worker)

Overview :

At Leading Lights Early Intervention, our Integrative Developmental Specialist Model provides families with one highly trained and qualified professional who becomes the consistent connection between the child, family and wider support team. Our Integrative Developmental Specialists bring professional qualifications, post-graduate training and years of experience across areas including child development, education, psychology, counselling, social work, play therapy and neuroscience, enabling them to understand the whole child rather than one area of development in isolation. As a child’s needs change, specialist professionals such as Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Counsellors, Social Workers and Nutrition professionals can move in and out of their care, while the Integrative Developmental Specialist remains the consistent point of connection—working directly with the child and family, collaborating with therapists and schools, integrating recommendations and translating specialist knowledge into practical strategies for everyday life. This uniquely integrative approach reduces fragmented care and ensures that home, school, family and therapy are working together toward shared goals for the child.

Group Programs

Overview :

We offer a range of group programs designed to support your child’s development in a fun and engaging group setting. Through play and peer interaction, children build social skills, strengthen emotional regulation, develop communication skills, and grow in confidence. Group sessions provide valuable opportunities to practise skills from individual therapy — and it’s often where we see them truly “click.” Groups are facilitated by experienced therapists, Key Workers and allied health assistants, and are tailored to suit different developmental stages. We create inclusive groups where every child is supported to participate in their own way, helping them feel safe, confident and connected.

Parent Advocacy

Overview :

Through our therapy sessions, we support parents and families to reduce carer burnout, strengthen emotional regulation, and build sustainable routines — all within a safe, non-judgemental space. From your initial consultation, we help you understand your NDIS plan, including your available budget and how our clinic can best support your family. We work alongside you to build your confidence and skills as a parent, encouraging participation in sessions wherever possible. We also connect families with trusted external supports such as the Triple P Parenting Program and the Raising Children Network.

Allied Health Assistants

Overview :

Our Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) work under the direct supervision of our Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists. They are qualified in Allied Health Assistance or are completing studies in Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology. AHAs implement individual therapy programs, prepare resources, and document progress under clinical guidance. They work closely with Key Workers and therapists to support each child’s goals while continuing to build their own skills within our clinic team.
